habitat for humanity of st charles county is looking for partner families, do you qualify?
1. Have you been living in St. Charles County and have you lived here consistently for at least one year? Habitat of St. Charles County serves its’ current residents, and other Habitat affiliates serve the residents in their counties. You must be a resident of St. Charles County and have lived here for the 12 months immediately prior to the application.
2.Do you have a steady source of income? As a homebuyer, it is important that you have a stable income history. Applicants must be employed with their current employer or in a similar industry for 6-9 months, or have another steady source of income.
3. Have you established good credit over the past two to three years? As part of the evaluation process, a credit check will be made on your past payment history. Obtain a FREE copy of your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com. You will need to provide Habitat with a copy of a recent (within the past 3 months) credit report with your application.
4. Have you ever filed for bankruptcy? Filing for Bankruptcy does not disqualify you from the Habitat program, but we require that the bankruptcy be fully discharged by the court for a minimum of 2 years at the time of application.
5. Does your total gross household income from all sources and from ALL wage earners over the age of 18 living with you, fall at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) based on your family size. 6. Are you presently living in substandard housing? Because Habitat's goal is to eliminate substandard housing, this could include being structurally unsound, overcrowded, having inadequate plumbing, heating, roofing, etc. or having no home at all. As part of the application process, a visit to your current home will be made to assess need. Using HUD guidelines, we will evaluate problems with your current housing. If your housing is not substandard, but is unaffordable and cost burdening to you, you may also qualify.
7. Are you willing to work the required 350 hours in the process of building your home, including assisting with construction, required workshops, classes and other Habitat programs, over the next 6-12 months?
